points of purchase
Buying Marriott points may seem like a bad idea, but it really isn't. It actually makes a lot of sense. I have bought Bonvoy points before and it has helped me a lot. In most cases, the price you pay for points is much less than what you would spend to book a hotel stay.
Additionally, Marriott offers promotions where it offers 2x to 3x the value of points to purchase them. That alone is worth it. And I can't forget to mention that buying points will help you level up. For example, if you are a Gold Elite and want to reach Platinum, purchasing Bonvoy points can help you achieve this. As your status increases, your next hotel stay will be even better.
I once purchased points after being disqualified from Marriott by booking through a third party. Well, Marriott ran a promotion offering $25 points. Ultimately, the amount of paid points I received was the same as what I would receive for my hotel stay. Also, I got extra points because of the action they performed.
