  • Exterior Color: Ikazuchi Yellow
  • Inner colour: black
  • Wheel Size: 19 inches

It's still the beginning of the year, so that could change, but the Nissan Z is a clear favorite in my unofficial Most Beautiful Vehicle of 2022 award. Nissan's designers nailed this car's exterior, mixing flavors. retro with a sleek, modern silhouette.

The rectangular grille is a clear reference to the old Datsun 240, as are the semi-circular headlights and the round "Z" shaped piece on the vehicle's rear pillar. The horizontal LED taillights exude 300ZX vibes, and there's even some hint of that predecessor in the new Z's silhouette. beautiful.

The interior isn't bad per se, it's a little bland in this spec. The iconic cluster of three gauges on the dash is one of the few things that will catch your eye. Otherwise, black leather, faux suede, and plastic variations cover every inch of this fitting room. However, you can opt for bolder red and blue interior tones.

Obvious individual parts like the climate controls and central touchscreen are carried over from otherNissanproducts, somewhat disappointing. And there are still clear traces of the 370Z in its DNA. The round door handles are the 370's most striking legacy.

  • Load capacity: 6.9 cubic feet

Sports cars generally don't get high marks for comfort. And the Nissan Z is no exception; It's a little loud on the highway and the stiff suspension doesn't respond well to road bumps. But mostly the seating position got out of hand.

As with some other obvious transitional pieces in the interior, the new Z shares the same seat structures as the 370Z. This means that the driver's seat barely moves up or down. Combine that with a telescoping steering wheel that doesn't offer enough movement on its own and a windshield that's too narrow (think Chevrolet Camaro visibility) and you're going to have a hard time getting comfortable in this car. At least the buckets on this performance model have real leather andsynthetic suede.

Technology and Connectivity

7/10

  • Center screen: 9.0 inch touch screen
  • Instrument panel display: 12.3 inches
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto: Yes / No

The touchscreen inside the new Z is relatively simple. A 9.0-inch screen, borrowed from other Nissan products, is standard on the Performance model, while a slightly smaller 8.0-inch screen is standard on the base Sport trim level. Both use the latest version of Nissan's Logical infotainment system, which has crisp graphics, uncluttered menu options, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. CarPlay has wireless connectivity, but for some reason Android Auto does not.

But the really cool technology is right in front of the driver; 12.3 inch digitalThe instrument cluster is standard in every respect. It offers three different customizable settings: Normal, Sport and Advanced, changing the personality of the group with unique graphics and settings. Sport, for example, adds more gauges for things like oil temperature, turbo pressure, and more.

(Video) Unfortunate News with the New Nissan Z...
  • Engine: 3.0 liter V6 with twin turbochargers
  • Horsepower: 400 hp / 350 pound-feet
  • Transmission: six-speed manual

The 2023 Nissan Z has 400 horsepower, which is more standard than any other car in its direct competition, including the Supra. And the thing absolutely breaks.

The Infiniti Red Sport family's 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine drops 350 pound-feet to just 1,600 rpm, and a standard limited-slip differential on the performance trim helps the coupe reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds with the transmission . speed manuals. Peak power is 6,400 rpm, giving the Z plenty of power at the limit; High speed highway crossings are an absolute breeze in this car.

In comparison, the nine-speed automatic is a little faster to 60 km/h than the manual, but that too isSix gears are quieter., it's still the more satisfying rig of the two (surprise, surprise). A well-placed shift pattern, medium stroke and well-weighted clutch keep the six-speed feel in sync with this powerful engine. And this performance model's Rev-Match system makes the heel a thing of the past - you can turn it off if you want to master the skill yourself.

The new Z has gained a few pounds compared to the outgoing 370 - around 50 for the entry-level manual car - due to increased chassis stiffness. But with this, the Z feels more responsive. A flick of the wheel and the Z attacks each spin with subtlety.Funny; whileAboveYKaimanThe Z's fluidity is still a little more responsive when cornering, making it more satisfying in longer, wider corners. Furthermore, the steering and chassis provide an absolutely clear picture of what the vehicle is doing. Road to fingertip communication is impressive.

Security

  • Driver Assistance Level: SAE Level 2 (Practical)
  • NHTSA Rating: Not Rated
  • IIHS Classification: Not Classified

Every Z, even the manual, comes standard with automatic emergency braking, blind spotsMonitor, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, High Beam Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. If you want adaptive cruise control on the Supra, you'll have to pay extra. And all these features worked well in our test, keeping the Z comfortable and composed during prolonged highway battles.

(Video) Nissan Z's SURPRISING Truth Revealed | What you NEED to know! | #nissan #nissanz | #NismoNick

  • Base price: $39,990 + $1,025 destination
  • Trim base price: $51,015
  • Tested Price: $53,210

Starting at $41,015 for the base model with a target price tag of $1,025, the Nissan Z isn't really what you'd call an "affordable sports car." But given that it competes with the Supra 3.0, the Cayman and the Audi TT, it's actually one of the cheapest options in the bunch, and the most powerful too.

Upgrading to performance finishes like the one tested here will cost an extra $10,000, bringing this model's base price to $51,015 (well below the maximum price). And if you want things like bigger wheels, a bigger touchscreen, a limited-slip differential, and more, the extra $10,000 is worth it. But even so, the Nissan Z still beats most of its competitors in this price range.

price fixing cut base price competitive price equipped
Nissan Z Performance 6MT 51.015 $ 53.210 $
Audi TTS 61.295 $ 61.890 $

Porsche 718 Cayman 6MT 64.850 $ 69.110 $
Toyota super 3.0 prime 56.650 $ 57.855 $

The standard 400hp and relatively affordable price should be enough to make you want a new Nissan Z. But otherwise this is a nice sports car, with a smooth six-speed manual transmission and a solid driving experience. We're glad the Nissan Z is back and better than ever.
